Shipping a mobile app without crippling the desktop workflow

Mobile should extend operational coverage, not become a reduced clone of the main product.

Mobile booking context preview for TravelEngine

Mobile has a different job

A strong travel desktop app handles the dense, multi-entity work. Mobile should support fast situational access:

  • check trip context
  • review the latest booking state
  • update notes while away from the desk
  • keep the team aligned in motion

Do not shrink the full app into a phone

That produces a compromised experience on every platform. The right approach is to identify the mobile-critical moments and design for those directly.

Shared data, different ergonomics

Desktop and mobile should share the same operational truth, but not the same density. That keeps the product coherent while respecting the constraints of each device.
